Police To Probe Cyril Smith Sex Abuse 'Cover-Up'

Police are to investigate claims of a criminal cover-up of the alleged sexual abuse of children at Rochdale schools by Sir Cyril Smith. Officers will examine whether Rochdale council members may have blocked attempts by police to prosecute the late Liberal Democrat MP, Sky News sources have said. There are already police investigations into the alleged sexual abuse of children at Knowl View residential school and Cambridge House children's care home. Rochdale council has also commissioned a QC-led inquiry into the accusations of abuse at the Knowl View school.
