Tours of post-war buildings dismissed by many as concrete monstrosities are being held by the National Trust to enlighten the public about a controversial era in architecture. Brutalism is the name of the movement that saw structures built from slabs of concrete. But while some view buildings like the Southbank Centre and University of East Anglia (UEA) as examples of daring and dramatic design others argue they are an austere and bleak eyesore.
