Term-Time Holiday Dad: I Was Following The Law

A man who escaped a conviction after taking his child on holiday in term time has told Sky News he did so because he was following the law. Jon Platt, from the Isle of Wight, said he won his case because there was no legislation that makes it illegal to take a child away outside of the official breaks. The dad-of-two said he took his 10-year-old and seven-year-old on holiday to Florida in April because it was impossible to go away as part of a family group of 18 during his youngsters' school holidays.
