False Widow Spider Infestation Shuts Schools

Two primary schools have been forced to close because of an infestation of venomous false widow spiders. Hundreds of pupils at the Osmani and Thomas Buxton schools in Tower Hamlets, east London, have been asked not to come to school for a week while pest controllers deal with the outbreak. It is not thought that any children were bitten before pest controllers were called in to fumigate nests and remove spider eggs.
