Too few teachers are receiving the training and support they need to teach children about the Holocaust, a report by MPs has concluded. The Commons Education Committee has claimed the Government must do more to ensure the genocide is covered to a consistently high standard in schools - and is calling for the topic to be taught in subjects other than history, such as English and drama. Figures show that 6,000 teachers have taken training programmes with the UCL Centre of Holocaust Education, yet there could be 30,000 history teachers in 4,000 secondary schools who teach about the atrocity as part of the curriculum.
