Street artist Banksy has been identified using a technique that could help fight terrorism, researchers say. Scientists at Queen Mary University of London have studied the spatial pattern of Banksy's work in Bristol and London to back a previously published theory identifying Robin Gunningham as the graffiti artist. Geographic profiling was pioneered by former police officer turned academic Professor Kim Rossmo for use in serial crime investigations, but it has recently proved useful in fields such as tracing the source of infectious disease outbreaks or finding the roosts of wild bats.
