Pupils To Test Maths In Real-Life Situations

Ten thousand pupils across England will take part in a new trial in a bid to improve their GCSE Maths results. The Young Enterprise's Maths in Context programme is part of a £700,000 fund launched by the Education Endowment Foundation. The foundation said that while around a quarter of questions in GCSE Maths exams involve applying knowledge to real-world contexts, most students only get a grade E or F in those questions, suggesting they find it difficult to apply the maths skills they have learnt in class to real-world contexts.
