Uni students with mental illnesses 'slipping through the gaps'

Mental health services for university students are often underfunded despite an increasing number of suicides among undergraduates, a new report has warned. The Higher Education Policy Institute says some universities need to at least triple the amount of funding they set aside for counselling and other support services if demand is going to be met. Its report highlights a recent Unite survey which suggests 32% of students had always or often felt depressed in the previous four weeks, while 30% always or often felt isolated or lonely.
