There is no evidence of higher death rates for patients who are treated for major trauma at specialist units at weekends, a study has found. Research led by Oxford University found no signs of higher death rates, known as the "weekend effect", for patients admitted to major trauma centres (MTCs) on Saturdays or Sundays.
