'Secure schools' plan for some young offenders

Some young offenders will now be held in secure schools rather than youth jails as part of a new Government plan to lower re-offending rates. At the secure schools, young people will receive tuition in core subjects such as English and Maths as well as having access to apprenticeship schemes to help them find jobs once they are released. Findings showed young offenders in public sector institutions were only receiving on average 17 hours of education every week compared to the expected 30 hours. Read More http://ift.tt/2hbKoK8
