Claudia Lawrence investigation scaled down after police review

Police investigating the disappearance and suspected murder of Claudia Lawrence are scaling down the hunt. The 35-year-old - who was not active on social media, did not have a computer or access the internet via her phone - failed to turn up at work at the University of York the next morning and was reported missing two days later. "Unless one outstanding line of enquiry relating to DNA profiling, estimated to take a further six weeks to finalise, provides a breakthrough in the case, the review which has cost £1m will start to scale down next month," said North Yorkshire Police in a statement.
