'Brain Drain' Warning As Teachers Lured Abroad

Teachers in England should be given "golden handcuffs" deals to stop them leaving to work abroad, according to the head of the education watchdog. Sir Michael Wilshaw, the chief inspector of Ofsted, says a teacher shortage is being worsened by thousands of newly-qualified teachers leaving the country. Last year some 18,000 people left England to teach abroad in English-language international schools - more than the 17,000 people who were trained via post-graduate routes.
